What is Cloudveil’s history?Cloudveil is an apparel company from Jackson, Wyoming, that specializes in winter and mountain gear. The company was started in 1997 by two outdoor sports enthusiasts.
What types of apparel does Cloudveil make?Cloudveil focuses mostly on items for use in cold weather or mountain environments. While it does sell standard apparel, it is mostly known for items such as jackets and pants. Here are some of the more common products it makes:- Down jackets for heavy cold weather
- Lightweight insulated and fleece jackets
- Rain jackets
- Hiking and touring pants
- Cloudveil down jackets: These jackets help protect against wind and cold. While the concept of using down is not a new idea, or unique to Cloudveil, there are a lot of features in these jackets. They are designed specifically with movement and activity in mind. They offer ribbing to help keep the down organized and in place on the jacket, which also helps with maneuverability for athletic activity. These jackets have a water-repellent Teflon shield for fabric protection. Some models have zippered pockets, zippered openings under the arms for ventilation, and interior lining, including the chin, for additional warmth.
- Cloudveil lightweight and fleece jackets: Fleece jackets are typically a lighter warmth level than down. They are excellent for activity on days that are in the cool range though not suited for deep winter or extended periods in near freezing temperatures. They can be used under an outer shell jacket for extra warmth in extremely cold conditions. They offer wind and water resistance. Polyester shells with Coolmax interior fabrics help keep users at a comfortable temperature. Full zippers and waist drawstrings are common.
- Cloudveil touring pants: Touring and hiking legwear is designed as an exterior layer for outdoor, cold weather activity such as snowshoeing or cross country skiing. These items are maneuverable and have features for active users. They offer water-resistant exteriors, and lined interiors for extra warmth and ease of use as a shell over other garments. These pants have hand-warmer pockets plus additional utility pockets for item storage.
- Cloudveil rain jackets: Like the others, these jackets are made with movement and activity in mind. They are tough and durable, and have some extra water repelling technology. They have adjustable brimmed hoods, lined collars, and neoprene cuffs, and a Goretex exterior for water prevention.
