Everything You Need To Know About OLED and LCD LG TV Screens

Among many other electronic devices, LG produces high-tech smart televisions. Many types of screens are available, including the advanced OLED (organic light-emitting diode) TV and LCD (liquid crystal display) TV models. Choosing the right type of TV is simply a matter of personal taste.

What are the differences between an LCD and OLED TV?

  • Width and weight: Because they don't need a backlight or supporting optical components, organic light-emitting diode screens are considerably thinner than LCD displays.
  • Manufacturing cost: LCD devices are sometimes the more cost-effective option to consider. This is largely due to organic light-emitting diode screens having white sub-pixels throughout its entire display. These sub-pixels are made by combining stacks of red, green, and blue colors.
  • Brightness: Due to having a backlight where the organic light-emitting diode device has none, a liquid crystal display is capable of producing more brightness.
  • Black level: Having the ability to turn off individual pixels completely, organic light-emitting diode devices are able to produce deeper blacks than other types of screens.
  • Contrast ratio: Being able to produce deeper and stronger blacks, an organic light-emitting diode device is typically able to generate a higher contrast rate than other types of screens.

What characteristics do the LCD and OLED LG TV share?

Both the liquid crystal TV and organic light-emitting diode LG TV use state-of-the-art technologies to produce large displays that present the following features:

  • Quantum dots and full array local dimming
  • Wide DCI color Gamut
  • 4K Ultra HD resolution
  • Curved screens

How do you update the firmware for your LG TV?

Before attempting to update the firmware, it's highly advised to make sure your television is connected to your router through an Ethernet cable. The reason for this is that wireless connections are not completely reliable for this kind of procedure. Once you have ensured this is the case, it is a simple process. Do as follows:

  • Push the MENU button on the remote control.
  • Find and select the System Settings menu.
  • Find and select the About menu.
  • Find the select the System Updates option. The system will tell you whether it's up to date or it needs an update. If it's the latter, select the Check Now option for the update to download automatically.

How often should you update your device's firmware?

Firmware updates are not required too often. Checking for updates (and running them) once every month should be enough to keep your device working properly.
