Acura MDX Power Steering Pumps and Parts

Power steering makes driving cars both easier and safer for the Acura MDX. It enhances the driving experience of the car, and the system could not work without the essential Acura MDX power steering pump and parts.

The Acura MDX’s power steering (PS) pump helps drivers turn their MDX easier. The pump is a part of the PS system that ensures that Acura’s fluid is moved properly and in sufficient quantities to facilitate turning with a minimal amount of driver effort. The PS O-ring is a simple but essential part of the PS system. It is a small rubber or silicone ring that goes between the pump and the main hose. It helps to maintain proper fluid pressure within the PS system and more importantly, prevents leaks that can inhibit the power’s steering’s effectiveness and damage other nearby parts of the vehicle.

If your Acura MDX is nearing the point in its maintenance schedule where a system flush is necessary, the job can be done quickly and easily in your home garage. This is a task that requires few specialized parts or tools, but it can be done much easier with two people than it can be done alone.

• First, remove the Acura MDX’s lowest PS line and drain the system into an approved drain pan or container. Reattach the line.
• Next, refill the PS reservoir halfway with new, correct PS fluid.
• Finally, once it is half-filled, have a friend start the Acura’s engine and continue to pour the liquid, maintaining a half-full level as it begins to fall. Once the level has stabilized, fill to the full line marked on the side of the car’s reservoir.
