Looking for CD and DVD Media Cases

Even in times of digital downloads, it is still easy to build a stack of DVDs and CDs. The original plastic DVD and CD cases can crack and break, and they take up space. If you copy content onto your own discs, you may have bought a stack of CDs on a spindle and need something to store them in. Using soft faux leather media cases for storing your discs keeps them in pristine condition and offers you easy portability.

Are There Different Styles?

You can find multi-disc storage cases for CDs in all kinds of shapes and sizes. Some hold just a few of your favorite discs, while others have the capacity to store a full and extensive media collection.

  • Albums: Many media cases use an album binder style with clear individual sleeves or dividers that hold each CD or DVD. These allow you to easily flip through your titles and compact disks to find the one you want easily.
  • Car Console Sizes: Cases that fit nicely your console will give you your audio entertainment with easy reach.
  • Car Visors - A case that slips over the inside of your sun visor takes up even less space in the front of your vehicle. You insert discs directly into individual slots for easy access.
  • Organizers: Square and rectangular organizer box type designs are great for sitting on a desk or in your entertainment unit. They may include separate media-trays for you to organize and categorize different types of content. Some fit your CD or jewel cases inside the unit.
  • Colors: The colors of synthetic leather media cases are often black or brown, but you'll also find multi-color options, and logo branded designs for the fashion conscious.

What Can You Do with Empty CD Cases?

The plastics in rigid CD cases make them recyclable and able to be repurposed. There

  • Recycling: Many local recycling depots will accept CD cases for recycling the plastic into other products. If you have scratched and unplayable discs, some centers will take these as well. The materials in both do not break down if they go into landfills, but they can melt down for reuse.
  • Desktop Organizers: There are many ways you can get creative with your empty rigid cases. Organize your pens, pencils, and knickknacks at the same time you tidy up your CDs. Glue your empty cases into a cube for a desktop organizer. Keep the original album covers, or insert your favorite photos, images or calendars inside the cases and you have recycled your cases to combine two uses in one.
