You might see some mini-USB to micro-USB cables for use in making them compatible with an Android device. Others available sometimes include the micro-USB to 9-pin or 5-pin adapters. These are some other available USB cable adapters:

• USB splitters: This allows you to plug more than one device in at a time like you would if you were using a two-port charger. Only in this case, it's a cable with at least two ends. You also might have seen some cables with three or four ends at one time.
• Mini-B to HDD power cable: Some types have both the Mini-B and USB-A ends on one cable. Use these for all your devices, including external hard drives that have these ends.
• Converter adapters: These are not mini cables but rather just an adapter about two inches long. You can find Mini-B ones to standard types or micro to standard and other varieties for data transfer and storage use. Usually, they convert a male end to another male end or a male end to a female end to which you can add your mini or standard USB cable.
